Live A Live is genuinely one of my all time favorite pieces of literal media. It's my longest running hyperfixation at this point, I genuinely cannot get it out of my head. MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE ENTIRE GAME, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

While it may appear that the game is split into 7 chapters at first, there's actually another after you complete those first 7, and another after you beat that one too, making for 9 in reality. The reason these 2 chapters are hidden away are because that would result in you seeing the truth to what Odio came from, a man named Oersted's life falling apart, and he ends up letting his hatred consume him. THe entire game stems from one person, and technically, Oersted shouldn't take complete blame here. His friend Streibough is the one who ended up being the last straw for Oersted's dwindling sanity, with him having manipulated the person Oersted was trying to save in the first place: princess Alethea. When she discovered Streibough's corpse after his confrintation with Oersted, she ends up killing herself to reunite with her lover. I know a lot of people blame her for it, but she was just a pawn in the end.

So yeah, after the rescue mission ends in Oersted being thought of as the Lord of Dark, he ends up actually becoming the Lord of Dark, forsaking his humanity and basically causing the entire game to happen.
