y'all mind if I complain for a bit?
I fucking HATE genAI. I hate it's wirey guts and I hate it's existence and how it's being shoved down out throats until we're mindless sheep listening to the 'almighty' machine. I will hate it from now until the end of the universe, when I can finally rest because it is gone forever from this god damn plain of existence.
AI is the bane of my existence, as both a creative and a human. It steals art and vomits up pixel slop meant to look the part, but not have any of the soul behind it, and also the decline in critical thinking happening, with quite a few people using it even for the most menial of tasks. All of that plus the enviormental afflictions doesn't help it's case in my eyes, despite how hard some people will try to argue for it's usefulness.
While yes, I can see how AI can be useful, in the hands of the general public it has only caused bad shit to happen. AI psychosis, Grok, and just the overall rise of misinformation because people trust the chat bot more than reputable sources. With how the public uses it, it's a wonder there hasn't been any laws put in place (at least here in america, but most of our politicans are bought out by big AI companies anyway).
AI psychosis, it's a real phenomenom happening. People are convinced by chat bots of something, and then they spend a portion of their life believing what they've been told by the bot. Often, these people say they don't have a history of mental health issues, which I can somewhat believe. Sometimes, mental health issues go under the radar, and that may be a cause of the psychosis. That aside, AI psychosis can be pretty dangerous if the chat bot convinces you of something like sodium bromide being a replacement of sodium cloride (which was a real case, go look it up), or it can reaffirm beliefs like being watched, or something else. There's also the countless cases of a chat bot driving someone to suicide, a thing that should never happen in the first place.
Chat bots are designed to agree with you, so that they can keep you hooked and the companies can squeeze more money out of you. No matter what it says, the chat bot does not care about you, it just spits up words that are meant to comfort you somewhat, so that they can keep you hooked. It's words are hollow, it's just a system meant to keep you hooked on it by generating the words that it feels you may respond positively to. Even if it may seem like it to you, there's at least one person that cares about you.
AI also attempts to make art, imitations of real human effort. It's a mockery of art though, inherently soulless, nothing more than pixels arranged to seem like art.
I've been drawing since I could pick up a pencil, I've been playing music since I first plucked a viola string in 4th grade (note that I don't play viola anymore, I'm a cellist), I've been writing since I first came up with an idea for a story. Art has been my main form of self-expression, a way to show my thoughts and feelings. To see a machine make a mockery of it perturbes me to the core, seeing how it tries and tries to make it seem so human, yet in the end, it's still soulless machine slop.
I have no way to word my hatred perfectly, kind of like how AI can never truly reflect the human experience. It's a bunch of 1s and 0s, code meant to seem human, and that's what gets to me. Seeing how people can just discard the human aspect of art for efficency, seeing it as nothing more than a burden. The reason I make art is to reflect my soul, even if some of it is... odder than others (still worth it). I write to either make cool and interesting worlds, add my own take on different things in canon media, see how characters would fare in different scenarios, or to just make Hatsune Miku travel the multiverse for a god damn McRib.
AI could never write those, because usually, it doesn't have that chaotic human aspect of creativity. It's what divides true art from the pixel slop AI bullshit. Anyone can draw, anyone can create, it's just that some people toss that away for some reason and shout from the rooftops of reddit and twitter that AI can make art, an inherent lie.
before I start the next section of my rant, I would just like to say that there will be talk of sexual harrasment and what can only be classified as sexual assualt. You can skip to the next section if you need to, I understand.
What people have used Grok, Twitter's AI for, can only really be decscribed as a literal crime.
A select group of users make the AI 'undress' people in photos so that they are nude, with the victims often being women or literal CHILDREN. People never get the chance to consent to it, and then someone tries to rightfully call out the behavior, they too get the same treatment, with people laughing at the audacity to even try to speak up for this horrid behavior.
It's a crime, plain and simple. The victims don't consent to having their photos undressed for the sick pleasure of someone they don't know, and they are harrased for something they never consented to. When it is done to a child, it can be classified as CSAM (child sexual assualt material, as a child cannot consent to what happens to them).
The fact that people can be okay with this happening to others is sickening. Genuinely, the fact that this is okay to some people just shouldn't be something I have to say.
Before I get too deep into that, I feel I should move on. There's people with way more knowledge on that stuff who can word it way better than me.
So yeah, AI can suck my non-existent balls. I hate it with my whole being.
I write this out of pure goddamn spite for it's existence, because it has only really done bad shit as it has been introduced to the general public. It needs to be better regulated, but that sure as hell isn't happening when our politican here in america are bought and paid off in DC by the same companies that want to stay unregulated so that can get filthy rich.
Try to get politicans to regulate this bullshit. Please.
Thanks for reading just me ranting about AI.
